Keep it Classical is a boutique classical pilates studio located in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District.

Our teachers have gone through rigorous Classical Pilates certification programs under some of the best teachers in the country, as well as numerous seminars and workshops taught by top Pilates professionals. Each instructor at Keep It Classical Pilates has completed over 700+ hours of training, observation, and teaching. Our studio is equipped with Gratz equipment and we currently offer both private and duet sessions.

Pilates works to connect your body, mind, and spirit through concentration and control of one's own muscles. 

 

It is a full body workout that both stretches and strengthens at the same time, with a deep emphasis on the core. No muscle is ever over-trained or under-trained. It improves joint mobility and flexibility, improves posture and balance. Connecting your body and mind in this manner creates a more unified, and healthy body.


Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's out of necessity: he suffered from asthma and rickets as a child, and became resolved to strengthen his weakened body. He believed that through complete control of your muscles, your body could reach its maximum potential. His system soon allowed his body to become longer, stronger, and more balanced, and his beliefs proved correct. After a stint training interred citizens during WWI, Pilates immigrated to the U.S. in 1925 and opened up the first pilates studio in New York City.
